Teen Missions Australia is committed to providing a Child Safe and Participant Safe environment, in line with our duty of care and relevant Australian safeguarding standards. Our programs involve physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges, often in settings with limited access to professional medical or mental health services. For this reason, full and accurate disclosure of relevant information is essential.
By submitting this application, I (and/or my parent/guardian [if under 18]) acknowledge and agree that:
- All information provided regarding physical health, mental health, emotional wellbeing, and behavioural history must be complete, accurate, and truthful, including any current or previous diagnoses, treatment, self-harm behaviours, suicidal thoughts or actions, trauma, or hospitalisation.
- This information is collected for the purposes of participant safety, safeguarding, risk assessment, and appropriate placement, and will be handled in accordance with Teen Missions Australia’s privacy, confidentiality, and child-safety obligations.
- Failure to disclose significant or relevant information may result in withdrawal from the program, including after acceptance or during participation, where necessary to meet safeguarding or duty-of-care responsibilities.
- Acceptance into Teen Missions Australia programs is based on appropriate readiness and safety considerations, and should not be interpreted as an assessment of an individual’s faith, spiritual maturity, or calling.
- Teen Missions Australia is not a mental health or medical treatment provider. Participants are expected to be able to independently and responsibly manage their own physical and mental health needs while participating in the program.
- Teen Missions Australia reserves the right to defer, limit, or discontinue participation where concerns arise relating to participant safety, wellbeing, or the safety of others.
I understand that decisions made under this policy are taken in the interest of participant welfare and organisational duty of care, and do not constitute judgment or discrimination.
